CHOGM: Rwanda seeks to share values of democracy and development - Mukangira

Rwanda seeks to share good values of democracy and the development of its people. It is excited and proud to be hosting the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting.

The remarks were made by Jacqueline Mukangira, The High Commissioner of Rwanda to India, during ‘The Commonwealth Family Gathering’ event, which was organised by the High Commission of Rwanda to India on May 27, 2022, in New Delhi.

She was presenting the status of preparedness of Rwanda to host CHOGM, and stressed how the country has been ready since two years ago.

The event convened high Indian officials led by the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Hon Meenakshi Lekhi, also the Chief Guest, High Commissioners from Commonwealth member countries accredited in New Delhi, Diplomats, among others.

Mukangira commended the existing peaceful climate in Rwanda, the readiness of big conference-infrastructure, the good level of confirmations of participation on all levels of CHOGM 2022 including its forums and side events, and the overall Commonwealth support to the meeting.

In her remarks, the Guest of Honour, Minister Lekhi, congratulated Rwanda for having been chosen among the member countries to host the CHOGM 2022.

She added: “As Rwanda assumes Chair of Commonwealth in Kigali next month, I wish them success for a successful CHOGM 2022.”

The event was also an opportunity to inform the audience about the investment climate in Rwanda.

Kapil Agarwal, Group CEO of Obeetee Group of Companies, commented on the investment climate in Rwanda, describing it as one of the best investment places in Africa.

On the other hand, Consultant Abhilash Puljal applauded Rwanda’s resilience and resurgence from the tragic history of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
